My approach to teaching students at any age is based first and foremost on respect being a two-way street. While the roles of a teacher and a student must be clearly defined, students have the right to be seen, heard, and believed in order to feel safe and valued within the classroom community. As a firm believer in the “healthy body, healthy mind” mentality, I strive to be a guide for students in helping them achieve lifestyle habits that will allow for balance within their physical, mental, emotional and social health. Finally, I feel strongly that where there’s a will, there’s a way to establish equity in education for the unique needs of each individual student, no matter how creative or unprecedented the game plan may be.
